Applied Data Systems (ADS) Introduces the Display Master(TM) StrongARM(TM)-Based Platform: Ideal Design for Enhanced Graphics and Web Services

DEVCON Las Vegas, NV - - October 22, 2002 Applied Data Systems (ADS), a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded single board computers based in Columbia Maryland, introduced the Display Master(TM), at Microsoft's Development Conference in Las Vegas today. ADS is introducing the Display Master with CE .NET capability at DevCon to showcase its rich graphics and packagability. The Display Master is one of the most graphics-intensive "application-ready" integrated RISC systems available, and the latest product in the ADS single board computer family. With CE .NET, high level graphics and wireless capability, the Display Master is well poised as a Thin Client engine for web services.

The Display Master's robust features that enhance graphics operations include StrongARM or PXA-250 processor, a MediaQ MQ-200 graphics controller, and a 4 - 5 wire resistive touchscreen interface. The rich graphic offering includes resolutions up to XGA 24-bit color and dual pixel/clock capability. A rich I/O set includes Ethernet 10/100 BT, a four-port USB Master Hub, three serial ports, a stereo audio Codec (with a 1W amplifier), one PCMCIA, one compact flash and a set of user-configurable digital I/O's, analog inputs and PWM's.

"Our targeted platform provides for the robust and ruggedized demands for enhanced graphic customer applications," said Bob Olsen, CEO of Applied Data Systems. "With a CE .NET-based, application-ready platform, our customers get to market quickly and can leverage the whole web services infrastructure."

ADS systems also feature enhanced power management and state of the art techniques to preserve the battery shelf life. While x86 computers consume large amounts of power, sleep mode for ADS systems often run on a few milliamps. Dimensions of the Display Master are 6" x 8.5." A variety of OS options may be provided, including WindowsCE, CE.NET, and other options. The Display Master is immediately available. More information is also available at www.applieddata.net
