DTI Introduces Lower Cost 1.26GHz Pentium III-Based PICMG Single Board Computer

LBC8918 workhorse targets uni-processor, U160 SCSI applied computing applications

October 7, 2002 - Diversified Technology's LBC8918 Intel Pentium III-S processor-based PICMG 1.0 Rev. 2.2 compliant passive backplane SBC addresses high performance Datacom/Telecom, messaging/CTI, Industrial Control & Automation, Medical/Imaging, and military/COTS Markets.

"Customers using our high performance, dual processor LBC8927 SBC asked for a lower cost board with onboard SCSI. Our Engineering team responded" said Dennis Aldridge, SVP of Marketing for DTI. "In this economy, vendor and customer alike must partner more than ever to succeed."

The LBC8918 features a .13 micron Intel Pentium III processor with 512KB full core speed L2 cache, ServerWorks ServerSet III LE chipset with 133MHz front side bus, and up to 2GB PC133 Registered SDRAM DIMMs, with full ECC support, on two sockets. Onboard are two 10 Base-T / 100 Base-TX Ethernet auto-negotiating controllers, dual channel PCI Ultra DMA/33 IDE support, Ultra160 SCSI LVD and SE channels, as well as Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, serial/parallel ports, floppy interface and a PCI SVGA CRT controller with 2 MB of SDRAM memory.

The LBC8918 has a 32-bit/33MHz onboard PCI Bus Interface and a 64-bit/33-66MHz off-board PCI Bus Interface. The video, Ethernet, SCSI and EIDE controllers are on the onboard PCI Bus; the other PCI bus is routed to the backplane and supports up to two 64-bit/66MHz or four 32-64-bit/33MHz PCI I/O expansion slots. The OSB4 PCI-ISA bridge supports USB and legacy PC AT I/O. An ISA buffering FPGA provides 20-slot drive capability.

The Phoenix BIOS, in field upgradeable Flash, supports software SCSI/Ethernet enable/disable, hardware video enable/disable, serial/parallel port re-mapping/disable, keyboard disable, console redirection, and PnP compliant onboard ISA interrupts. Other features include a hardware monitor (board and system voltages, temperature, and fan speed), programmable three-stage watchdog timer, power fail circuit, and a 2 year limited warranty.
