Original Press Release:

New $199, 2-port Ethernet Controller from JK Microsystems

Davis, CA, February 15, 2002 -

Featuring two independent Ethernet ports, the new Dual-E(TM) is a unique single board computer whose cost, size and functionality are unrivaled in the industry.

Aimed at applications requiring connection to multiple networks, the Dual-E can function as a bridge between separate 10Base-T networks, serve as a firewall/router, or provide Ethernet
and serial connectivity to existing equipment. The Dual-E is a valuable addition to JK microsystems' comprehensive line of DOS based, embedded TCP/IP single board computers.

TCP/IP functionality for the Dual-E is provided by the USNET(R) Embedded TCP/IP Protocol Suite from US Software, a Lantronix Company. This industry proven, reentrant network package is suitable for everything from digital consumer products to industrial controls. USNET's small footprint and high performance make it an ideal fit for integration with dedicated, application specific hardware platforms. Using the USNET stack, developers can program the Dual-E to communicate via Ethernet and access the Internet.

The Intel 386Ex processor and DOS operating system provide a comfortable environment for embedded development. The Dual-Es serial ports, counter/timers, and the interrupt controller are fully compatible with the IBM PC at both the hardware and software levels. Additional standard features include a watchdog timer, hardware clock/calendar, RS-232/RS-485 serial port capabilities, and network status LEDs, as well as flexible storage options.

The Dual-E has an attractive single unit price of $199 that includes USNET and, for OEMs, aggressive quantity discounts are available. For initial development, kits include a Dual-E
single board computer, associated hardware and cables, Borland C/C++ compiler, libraries, documentation and examples for USNET from US Software. Dual-E Development Kits provide an integrated hardware and software solution for an exceptionally low cost of $399.
