Original Press Release:

Compact 1U 19 Inch Industrial PC Powered by Pentium M Technology

Kansas City, USA and Cambridge, England - August, 2005 - Arcom has launched a rugged 1U 19 inch industrial compact enclosure (ICE) for the APOLLO - a Pentium M based single board computer designed for applications demanding long term product availability and high performance fanless operation. The APOLLO is built on power efficient Intel Centrino technology and offers CPU options from 600MHz Celeron M up to the 2.1GHz Pentium M. Using Intel Enhanced SpeedStep technology and a large integral copper heatsink, some CPU options can operate as silent fanless systems up to 65°C. The APOLLO ICE is fitted with a wide-input 180W AC power supply and can accommodate two PCI (v2.2) add-on cards. The system also supports a DVD/CDRW drive, slim floppy disk drive and a high shock rated 2.5" hard disk drive, all in a 1U high system - that's less than 2 inches!

As standard, the APOLLO ICE is fitted with a 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU, 512Mbytes of DDR memory and dual Ethernet. This rugged industrial PC is less than 14 inches (350mm) deep and is ideal for information servers, OEM industrial machine controllers and specialized low noise PC applications. The APOLLO computer offers a wide selection of features including dual independent display capability (CRT and LVDS output, as well as modular options for a secondary VGA, DVI or TV-Out), dual Ethernet with a Gigabit Ethernet port, dual FireWire (IEEE 1394a) ports, four USB 2.0 channels and two serial ports (RS-232/RS-422/RS-485). The APOLLO ICE can be configured to operate as a completely solid state system using the onboard CompactFlash slot. Also, the system can be fitted with a Wi-Fi CF+ card with the antenna connected via an aperture on the rear panel.

This 1U system is fitted with a tamper detection switch (for the enclosure lid) and optional Trusted Computing technology for use in secure applications. The front panel LCD character display and navigation buttons can be used for user information, system status display and system administrator functions. For easy access and configuration, the front panel also includes two USB ports and FireWire connector.

Remember - Arcom has an in-house Custom Design & Build team of mechanical and system design engineers available to create cost effective custom solutions based on our standard ICE product platforms.
