SinCos Sendix Encoders

High accuracy acquisition of the smallest event movements.

Kübler Sendix encoders available with interpolable Sin/Cos interface

Drive technology requires that encoders measure even smallest movements, creep speed/slow approach, or braking movements with the highest accuracy and without dead time or delay. Kübler Sendix encoders 5814 and 5834 incremental with Sin/Cos interface provide highly interpolable Sin/Cos differential signals with U = 1 VSS. These sine encoders perform this task using two Sin/Cos signals offset by 90°, from which a quasi-continuous control behavior can be derived. This way, even small rotary movements produce continuous rotational speed and position signals.

Thanks to the interpolation, the subdivision by the control of the sinusoidal curve produces a very high resolution that, due to the good signal quality of the Sendix encoders, can be interpolated up to 16 bits. So, a sine encoder with 1024 signal periods per revolution (11 bis) supplies the high accuracy of about 270 million measuring steps per revolution. A value that virtually predestines the Sin/Cos encoder for motor feedback applications.

Interpolation has further advantages: the Sin/Cos encoders are resistant against interferences and have little requirements with regard to the input circuit of the control electronics since, due to the interpolation of the sine signals, low transmission frequencies of about 400 kHz for 2048 signal periods are ensured between the encoder and the control device. This is even true at high rotational speeds of up to 12,000 RPM. Since the sin/cos signals allow defining the rotational speed and the position, there is no more need for an additional tachometer; the power supply is 5 V DC or 10 - 30 V DC.

The new Kübler Sendix Sin/Cos encoders have a good interface for drive techology, highly reliability sturdy die-cast zinc housing and the robust Safety-Lock™ bearing structure. They have a wide variety of options/accessories such as  shaft and hollow shaft versions, cables, connectors and a variety of mounting solutions. Their suitability for motor feedback is completed by their temperature resistance reaching from -40°C to +90°C (-40°F to 194°F) and an IP 65 rating. The harshest environment is not a problem for these special encoders for the drive technology.

The Sendix ATEX family also has encoders with SIL2 and SIL3 certification, including available MTTFd values that make calculations according to EN 61800-5-2 und EN ISO 13849-1 easier. The Safety version is completed with tested and safe mechanical connections.
