Simrit Debuts New PTFE Modified Fluorosilicone F229 Compound ......

Fuel-resistant compound offers improved strength and ease of installation

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Jan. 10, 2007 - Simrit, the industrial sealing products division of
Freudenberg-NOK, has introduced the new polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) modified fluorosilicone (FVMQ) F229 compound for the aerospace industry. Simrit's new compound meets the requirements of AMS 3383 specification.Approved by a world leading U.S.-based aircraft engine manufacturer, as well as a U.S.-based global supplier of aircraft landing gear and related systems, the F229 compound is designed specifically for applications ranging from -60 to 150 degrees Celsius (-76 to 302 degrees Fahrenheit).

"Simrit's new PTFE modified fluorosilicone compound has improved tear and extrusion resistance over typical fluorosilicones" said Vinay Nilkanth, vice president of business development, Simrit. "Additionally, the material's increased tensile strength allows for easier installation. This new material demonstrates how Simrit is growing and evolving its products to meet the special needs of the aerospace industry."

Approved for o-ring, molded shape and plate seal products, some of the material's applications include: aircraft engines; auxiliary power units; fuel controls that require seals resistant to jet fuel and HTS lubricating oil; and fuel dispensing seals (pumps, nozzles, break-aways and swivels). This compound is also appropriate for oscillating and dynamic fuel system seals.

The Simrit Division is based at Freudenberg-NOK's headquarters in Plymouth, Mich. Freudenberg-NOK is part of the Freudenberg and NOK Group Companies, which have total annual sales of more than $7 billion. The global Freudenberg and NOK Group offers an extensive portfolio of precision-molded products for the aerospace, appliance, diesel engine, marine, medical, off-highway equipment, oil and gas, recreational vehicle and semiconductor markets.
