SiliconSystems' SiliconDrive Shipping in 12 Additional Xilinx System ACE Development Board Kits

SiliconDrive Provides Developers a Highly Reliable, Pre-Qualified, and Compatible Advanced Storage Solution for Multiple Xilinx FPGA Platforms

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 10, 2007 - SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, today announced that Xilinx, Inc. will use its patented SiliconDrive technology in 12 additional Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development kits. Starting immediately, the additional Xilinx development kits will ship with a SiliconDrive in a CompactFlash form factor which offers the high performance and reliability with a low total cost of storage ownership required for applications in the Enterprise System OEM market.

The Xilinx development kits that include SiliconDrive provide various levels of engineering support, from basic design exploration to advanced development of Xilinx technology. SiliconDrive was originally selected and recently expanded by Xilinx because of its high-reliability, consistent performance, and compatibility with the Xilinx System ACE(TM) CF controller, which configures and interfaces with a flash memory storage system that must be mounted on the board. System ACE CF is the recommended solution for system-level designs with high densities and multiple FPGAs. When a SiliconDrive is used in conjunction with the Xilinx System ACE CF controller, it can store both FPGA configuration data as well as any data used by an application running in the FPGA, such as embedded processor code and data, or video application data.

"SiliconSystems and Xilinx share common engineering and market benefits including engineering excellence, high performance and reliability, and long product lifecycle support," said Michael Hajeck, CEO at SiliconSystems. "Shipping SiliconDrives with Xilinx development kits enables system developers to work with the latest advanced storage technology and test it in the earliest stages of the design cycle at a time when important storage decisions should ideally be made."

The Xilinx kits shipping with SiliconDrive include select evaluation and development boards for the Spartan(TM) and Virtex(TM) FPGA families, which are intended for use in designing embedded processing and high-speed communication applications.
