SiliconSystems Announces Advanced Storage Technology Optimized for Critical OEM Storage Applications

New SiliconDrive II Product Families Feature Industry-Leading Performance and Reliability

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 18, 2008 - SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, today announced its new SiliconDrive II product families based on the company's next-generation storage technology platform. SiliconDrive II products offer Enterprise System OEM designers faster read/write speeds and enhanced performance and reliability to address critical OEM design considerations such as storage system endurance, elimination of drive corruption and the ability to forecast useable life. SiliconDrive II products are available in Parallel ATA (PATA), Serial ATA (SATA) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) interfaces.

SiliconSystems' new SiliconDrive II technology platform is designed to overcome storage system endurance, reliability and compatibility issues associated with faster host-system interfaces and shrinking storage component process geometries to deliver the high performance, high reliability and multi-year product lifecycle storage systems required by OEMs. SiliconDrive II products are integrated with SiliconSystems' patented PowerArmor, SiSMART and SiliconDrive Secure advanced storage technologies. Customer evaluation units of the following SiliconDrive II products are available today.

SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch SATA Drive

The SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch SATA drive is based on the industry-standard SATA 3-gigabits per second (Gb/s) interface, which makes it an ideal drop-in replacement for hard drives in critical storage applications. SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch SATA drives feature read and write speeds of 32- and 17-megabytes per second (MB/s) respectively, and are available in capacities from 4 to 32- gigabytes (GB).

SiliconDrive II USB CF

The patent-pending SiliconDrive II USB CF combines the performance and compatibility of the USB interface with the proven, rugged and industry-standard CF form factor, which has been the preferred form factor of embedded system designers for many years. SiliconDrive II USB CF features read and write speeds of 20MB/s and 16MB/s respectively, and is available in capacities from 1GB to 8GB.

SiliconDrive II USB 10-pin

The SiliconDrive II USB 10-pin module features an industry-standard form factor and delivers the high performance, high reliability and multi-year product lifecycle storage system required by Enterprise System OEMs. SiliconDrive II USB 10-pin modules feature read and write speeds of 20MB/s and 16MB/s respectively, and are available in capacities from 1GB to 4GB.

SiliconDrive II USB Blade

SiliconDrive II USB Blade is a breakthrough storage solution in an environmentally-rugged and ultra-small form factor, providing improved storage design flexibility in applications where board space and performance are critical design considerations. This innovative, industry-first form factor features read and write speeds of 10MB/s, and is available in capacities from 512MB to 2GB.

SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch PATA Drive

The SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch PATA drive is an ideal drop-in replacement for hard drives in critical storage applications. SiliconDrive II 2.5-inch PATA drives feature read and write speeds of 34MB/s and 19MB/s respectively, and are available in capacities from 4GB to 32GB.

SiliconDrive II CF

SiliconDrive II CF is an optimal time-to-market replacement for hard drives and flash cards or in host systems that require low power and scalable storage solutions. SiliconDrive II CF features read and write speeds of 34MB/s and 19MB/s respectively, and is available in capacities from 1GB to 16GB.

"Demand for advanced solid-state storage technology has reached a record high as embedded system designs migrate to faster host system interfaces," said Michael Hajeck, CEO at SiliconSystems. "SiliconDrive II products ideally match OEM requirements for high performance and high reliability in the market's most sought-after interfaces, form factors and capacities. SiliconSystems' next-generation SiliconDrive II technology platform enables the company to offer a wide array of highly-scalable products that exceed the exacting demands of high endurance, high reliability and fast data transfer rate applications."
