Silicon Image Delivers New HDMI 1.3 Receiver Chips for HDTVs and Audio/Video Receivers

Two New VastLane(TM) HDMI 1.3 Receivers Deliver the Ultimate Home Theater Experience Backed by Comprehensive Interoperability Testing Through Simplay Labs(TM)
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 // -- Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIMG), a leader in semiconductors for the secure storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content, today unveiled two new High Definition Multimedia Interface(TM) (HDMI(TM)) 1.3 receiver integrated circuits at the 2007 International CES. The VastLane(TM) SiI9135 is designed for use in audio/video (A/V) receivers, and is the first HDMI receiver to support High Bit Rate (HBR) audio. The VastLane SiI9125, designed for use in high-definition televisions (HDTVs), is an advanced, dual input HDMI receiver that fits directly into HDTVs, offering manufacturers an easy-to-implement, drop-in upgrade to add HDMI 1.3 capabilities to their full range of HDTVs.
Designed for high-definition (HD) digital A/V receivers, the SiI9135 supports the latest HD audio formats, allowing customers to experience the ultimate surround sound experience. The new support for HBR audio enables A/V receivers to play back compressed lossless audio formats such as Dolby(R) True HD and DTS-HD to deliver a rich digital video and audio experience. To give consumers an end-to-end HDMI 1.3 solution, manufactures can pair the SiI9135 with the recently announced SiI9134 transmitter chip. The SiI9134 integrates into HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc DVD players and recorders to transmit Deep Color(TM) content for the highest-quality image for the end consumer. The SiI9134 also supports up to 1080p resolution at 60Hz and 12-bit color depth.
The SiI9125 receiver will enable HDTVs to display Deep Color content transmitted by a new generation of consumer products, such as the Sony PlayStation 3 and high-definition DVD players. It supports HDMI 1.3 and provides HDTV manufacturers with a cost effective means of implementing dual HDMI inputs for simultaneous connection of multiple HDMI source devices, such as a DVD player and a set-top box to a DTV. This enables HDTVs to display Deep Color content in billions of colors with unprecedented vividness and accuracy. The built-in High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) decryption engine secures the digital link for transmission of valuable high-definition video and audio. SiI9125 supports both Super Audio-CD and DVD Audio, including 7.1-surround audio at 192 kilohertz (kHz) and stereo audio at 192kHz.

The SiI9135 and SiI9125 support 10-bit and 12-bit color depths (4:4:4 RGB or YCbCr), up from the 8-bit color depths displayed in the current generation of HDTVs.
