Hamlet Makes HD Standard at NAB

High definition on popular test and measurement platforms at NAB2005

Booth C7031, NAB2005 - High definition production and delivery is now spreading so rapidly around the globe it will shortly become the accepted norm everywhere. Leading test and measurement specialist Hamlet is taking its place in this revolution, providing tools for engineers and creative artists which meet all HD standards in practical and familiar forms.

The Flexiscope is a palm-top signal generator, waveform monitor and vectorscope, built on a bespoke, all-digital platform. Designed for maximum flexibility, its first plug-in card provides simultaneous operation in both HD and SD SDI, giving engineers the instant ability to check signal parameters, quickly and accurately, wherever they are.

For high precision measurements, the Protean Axiom is the latest version of the industry's most convenient and cost-effective high-precision HD signal generator. The new version offers even greater levels of stability than its popular predecessor, together with extended capabilities including an improved eye pattern. AES /EBU audio is supported, as is the ability to generate moving identification streams of up to 64 alphanumeric characters.

The Protean Axiom, and its new SD and composite variant the Protean Index (which shares the same operational facilities) can be battery powered, making them the perfect tools for engineers establishing and maintaining a facility's infrastructure, especially during the migration from standard to high definition.

Among the other important products on display at NAB2005 is Vidscope, the software-only signal analysis tool supplied as a plug-in for Avid systems running on a PC platform. Vidscope delivers precision audio and video signal quality control, in a form which is readily appreciated by editors working under pressure, right on their desktops.

Hamlet's reputation is based on products which meet the real needs of the industry. The company's product specialists will be on hand throughout NAB to discuss the latest developments, forthcoming products, and how the broad range of devices can meet the precise needs of every user.

Hamlet can be found at NAB on stand C7031 in the central hall.

Formally established in 1986, Hamlet Video International Limited is dedicated to the design, manufacture and supply of innovative, high quality, cost effective equipment to the video and broadcast industry worldwide, with concentration currently on both digital and analogue video and audio test and measurement equipment.

Hamlet manufactures a complete range of waveform/vectorscopes, including rack mount, stand alone, PCB and portable units for studio, EFP/ENG, editing, telecine, duplication, desk top video applications and more.

All Hamlet test measurement devices are designed without dedicated cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and therefore do not suffer from the problems associated with CRT devices. Hamlet units digitally generate the traces along with the associated graticules for display on any standard monitor either digital or analogue. Thus the signal may be routed at the users convenience to any suitably placed viewing monitor.

Hamlet continues to develop and design devices suitable for all areas of television production with excellence in vision.
