Vishay Micro-Measurements Model A2 Signal Conditioner and Amplifier System, With Frequency Response to 110 kHz, Features Digital Control of System Instrumentation and Monitoring of 10 VDC Analog Outputs

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - May 20, 2005 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (VSH: NYSE) has announced the release of the new Vishay Micro-Measurements Model A2 Signal Conditioner and Amplifier System for strain gages, strain-gage-based transducers, thermocouples, and various other sensors with high-level signals.

With a frequency response to 110 kHz, the Vishay Micro-Measurements A2 features digital control of the system instrumentation and monitoring of the 10 VDC analog outputs, both locally on the control panel and remotely by Ethernet from a PC. Scalable in multiples of eight channels to a maximum of 128 for each system, the A2 is an embedded web server. All system, card, and channel settings are accessible using simple HTTP commands or by using the graphical user interface provided by the system. Ordinary, web browsers are used for controlling the system remotely, and for channel-by-channel monitoring of signals by Ethernet.

The Model A2 is specially designed to function as the front-end for DAQs and recorders accepting high-level analog signals. Instrumentation hardware, available as individual eight-channel cards for strain gage, thermocouples, and high-level signals, features high stability with temperature and time. Strain-gage instrumentation accepts full-, half-, and quarter-bridge circuits and has built-in bridge completion resistors for 120-, 350- and 1000-ohm quarter bridges. Amplifier gain, bridge excitation and balance, shunt calibration, and signal filtering are all digitally controlled.

Vishay Micro-Measurements is a division of Vishay Measurements Group. Vishay Measurements Group develops, manufacturers, and markets a broad range of sensors for a wide variety of test and measurement applications. These include electrical resistance strain gages for both stress analysis testing and transducer manufacturing applications, instrumentation, and hybrid strain gage assemblies under the Vishay Micro-Measurements and BLH brands, and transducers for OEM applications and certified load cells for electronic scales and other weighing applications under the Vishay Nobel, Sensortronics, Tedea-Huntleigh, BLH and Celtron brands. Vishay Measurements Group is part of Vishay Intertechnology.

Vishay, a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, optoelectronics, and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, and transducers).
