Sierra Wireless Modules Integrate Into Cisco 3G Wireless WAN HWIC Solution


ORLANDO, March 28 // -- Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR)(NASDAQ:- TSX:)(NASDAQ:SW) today announced that Cisco(R) has selected Sierra Wireless 3G embedded modules for integration into the new Cisco 3G Wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) High-Speed WAN Interface Card (HWIC) solution for Cisco Integrated Services Routers (ISRs).

This integrated solution is part of the Cisco Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) architecture and is helping to enable service providers to offer 3G wireless connectivity to enterprise branch office customers demanding the highest-availability access to business-critical applications across the wide-area network (WAN).

Cisco's new 3G Wireless WAN card, which utilizes the Sierra Wireless embedded Wireless WAN modules, provides a number of benefits to the enterprise, including:

o Automatic WAN failover service for business continuity;
o Supplemental bandwidth access when the primary WAN link is over
utilized;
o Rapidly deployable primary WAN connectivity for temporary sites and
businesses requiring portability; and
o Rapidly deployable primary WAN connectivity for remote locations
lacking wireline infrastructure.
