Siemens Water Technologies Introduces PureFit(TM) Packaged Water Treatment Systems

Warrendale, Pa., August 18, 2006 -- The Water Technologies division of the Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S), has introduced the PureFit(TM) Packaged System for producing and distributing high-purity water. These innovative systems meet the demand for an instantaneous supply of 2 to 20 gallons per minute (gpm) of high-purity water. They also provide a recirculating water supply and post-treatment for flow rates up to 72 gpm.

Siemens Water Technologies can quickly provide a total high-purity water solution with the PureFit packaged system, while eliminating many of the uncertainties and risks associated with custom designs. Customers can enjoy the speed and simplicity of implementing a water treatment system in as little as 10 to 12 weeks after conception. The normal process of design, procurement and installation is greatly reduced using this packaged approach.

"The PureFit system represents the perfect marriage of our capabilities as a high-purity water supplier," says Tim Crowley, general manager of the High Purity Services and Products division. "Our products and services are combined with our solutions experience to create an array of packaged systems and offerings to meet the total water treatment needs of our customers."

PureFit systems include pretreatment, deionization, distribution and polishing, and are offered in three basic configurations:

o Direct feed, using service deionization (SDI)
o On-demand make-up with storage and distribution, using reverse osmosis (RO) and SDI
o Continuous make-up with storage and distribution, using RO, continuous electrodeionization (CEDI) and SDI

The systems are pre-assembled using standard platforms and racks that re-connect easily in the field. Polishing deionization is available, with several grades of SDI resin, depending on specific end-use water quality requirements. The SDI resin bottles are exchanged as needed with freshly regenerated units from one of 80 service centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. For customers with a limited operations or maintenance staff, service contracts can be provided based on recommended preventative maintenance schedules to keep the system operating at peak efficiency. Siemens Water Technologies can also provide a Water One® contract that includes system rental, installation, operation and maintenance, all for one low monthly fee.

Each PureFit system comes with comprehensive documentation consisting of: Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), equipment layout drawing, piping and general arrangement drawings (dimensioned single-line isometrics), as-built electrical schematics and PLC program, equipment tag list, startup log, installed consumables list, project execution schedule and system installation, operating & maintenance manuals. Examples of each can be provided by your local sales representative.
