Siemens Receives Explosion Proof Approvals for Sitrans AW210 WirelessHART Adapter

Siemens Sitrans AW210 WirelessHART adapter has received an explosion proof rating for intrinsically safe (Ex ia), nonincendive (Ex nA) and explosion proof (Ex d), offering increased safety in hazardous areas, along with the benefits of field level transparency and flexibility for process industries.

With more than 35 million devices installed worldwide, HART technology is the most widely used field communication protocol for intelligent process instrumentation.

The Sitrans AW210 adapter allows up to eight standard wired HART devices or one 4-20 mA to be connected to a WirelessHART network. The integrated power management enables efficient usage of external batteries or energy harvesting components like solar panels.

By installing the SITRANS AW210 on an existing analog-wired HART device, users can utilize all diagnostic information at the maintenance station without the risk of impaired operation. In this case, the adapter is powered by the loop.

WirelessHART devices, like the Sitrans AW210, offer plant operators increased plant transparency, productivity and performance, with common applications including processing monitoring and control, asset management, health, safety and environmental monitoring and temporary measurement.

Siemens process instrumentation offers a complete portfolio of WirelessHART products, including temperature and pressure transmitters, gateways and adaptors. With Simatic PCS-7, WirelessHART devices can be easily integrated into a block library for smooth engineering and commissioning.
