Siemens Presents Range of Flexible Solar Inverter Models for Global Use

The Siemens Industry Automation Division is presenting a flexible range of solar inverter models designed for use in all parts of the world. The "Sinvert PVS 800series" includes devices with rated outputs of 680 kW, 720 kW, 760 kW and 800 kW that can cover a performance range of up to 3,200 kW in a master-slave combination. Certification in compliance with UL (Underwriters Laboratories), CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) allows global use of the Siemens inverters. Thanks to their high rated output power and high peak efficiency, the new models make an important contribution to ensuring the cost-effectiveness of medium-sized and large photovoltaic power plants.
Backed up by the comprehensive certification, the new solar inverters from the Siemens Industry Automation Division support the 50-Hertz grid frequency common in Europe and large parts of Asia, as well as the 60-Hertz frequency in North America. The Sinvert PVS 800 series can also be used for crystalline and thin-film modules for which they have four DC connections. The master-slave procedure that allows up to four devices to be combined into one unit results in well-balanced utilization of all components and thus in a longer service life. Master-slave combinations also offer improved matching of the rated output of the inverters to the yield of the connected fields, thus optimizing efficiency.
Thanks to the choice of different devices in the new model range, an optimum combination of rated output and MPP window can be implemented for each temperature range to match the location and the modules used. This means that the Sinvert PVS 800 series offers the most suitable inverter for the conditions of each region.
The models of the Sinvert PVS 800 series have a touch screen for local operator input. A standardized communication interface permits forwarding of the measured data to a control center as well as remote control of the inverter. Like the entire Sinvert PVS range, the new models are also supplied, as an option, in photovoltaic containers, complete with medium-voltage components, for immediate operation following delivery. In addition, the new devices can be equipped with an external isolator switch on the enclosure, allowing power flow to be interrupted manually. Special dust or saline filters are available for the containers when used in particularly dry locations or close to the sea. The new Siemens inverters also comply with the medium-voltage directive issued by the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) with all the requirements including FRT (Fault Ride Through) and active power control.
