Siemens Milltronics-Brand Millpulse 600 Motion Sensor Receives CE Approval

ATLANTA, Jan. 31, 2007 -- Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. today announced its Milltronics-brand Millpulse 600 motion sensor received CE approval. The CE Mark indicates conformity to the legal requirements of the European Union (EU) Directive with respect to safety, health, environment, and consumer protection.

Built to operate in even the harshest condition, the Millpulse 600 instrument is a heavy-duty 2-wire motion sensor that provides solid state switch output to PLCs. Non-contacting motion sensors detect changes in motion and speed of conveying, reciprocating, and rotating machinery. Typical applications include tail pulley shafts, driven pulleys, motor shaft sensing, and screw conveyor flights.

The Millpulse 600 sensor offers under-speed, over-speed, differential speed, and speed indication functions by a PLC. With an all aluminum body, it operates from -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C). It operates with a probe/target separation of up to 4" (100 mm) gap between the Millpulse 600 sensor and targets.

Impervious to dust, dirt, build-up and moisture, the Millpulse 600 sensor's is ideal for primary industries like mining, aggregate, and cement plants. Operating where other systems are prone to failure, the non-contacting design eliminates the need for lubricating, cleaning and replacing parts. The Millpulse 600 sensor reduces downtime and clean-up expenses associated with conveying equipment failure. Its pulse output can be used to minimize spillage, prevent damage, detect belt slippage at the head pulley, and warn of other conveyor malfunction. Overall, the Millpulse 600 sensor supplies cost effective equipment protection.
