SecureUSA, Inc. Crash Tested Sidewalk Bollard Provides Practical Security in Major U.S. Cities

SecureUSA, Inc., the leading provider of perimeter defense solutions, introduced its new sidewalk bollard that was recently DOS crash certified at the K4 level designed to provide practical security solutions to major U.S. cities

ATLANTA, April 17 / -- SecureUSA, Inc., the leading provider of perimeter defense solutions, introduced its new sidewalk bollard that was recently crash tested and certified by the Department of State (DOS) at the K4 Level. The new sidewalk bollard was specifically designed for use in metropolitan areas of major U.S. cities.

SecureUSA's new sidewalk bollard (SU-SB) is designed to be installed in locations where extensive excavation simply isn't an option. The sidewalk bollard can be installed in a foundation as shallow as nine inches deep and still maintain its K4 crash certification. The sidewalk bollard received its name based on its ability to be installed in most existing sidewalks. Many of the issues associated with perimeter defense solutions where bollards need to be installed around an existing facility are due to a significant amount of sub-surface infrastructure. In most metropolitan areas, utilities and other under ground infrastructure prevent installing conventional bollards that require a three to five foot deep foundation. In these cases, the architect is left to design a non-crash certified shallow foundation bollard as the solution. The new sidewalk bollard provides a crash certified solution that can be installed in the existing sidewalk solving the problem while maintaining security.

The second problem solved by the new sidewalk bollard is ADA spacing requirements. Most of the existing conventional bollard solutions were crash tested at a 36-inch or similar center distance that does not meet the ADA clear opening requirements for pedestrians. Even though existing conventional bollards are installed with a wider spacing to meet ADA requirements, they are no longer crash certified under this configuration and are not meeting the requirements of the facilities they are protecting. The sidewalk bollard was crash tested and certified at a 48-inch center distance that fully meets the ADA clear opening requirements as tested. The non-obtrusive sidewalk installation will not interfere with pedestrian traffic flow. SecureUSA is also offering several aesthetically pleasing decorative sleeve options that can be used to match or improve the landscape or streetscape appearance of the facility.
