Short Pulse, UV Fiber Laser offers high peak power.

Press Release Summary:

With output at 355 nm and TEM00 mode quality of M²<1.3, Daytona HE produces nanosecond and shorter pulses with peak powers of >45 kW at repetition rates up to 525 kHz and pulse energies of >70 µJ at up to 325 kHz repetition rate. This flexible platform that can be adjusted over operating range to match exact needs of particular application and is suited for precision micromachining of semiconductors, glasses, organics, metals, and other materials.

Original Press Release:

New Short Pulse, UV Fiber Laser Offers Highest Peak Power for Expanded Capabilities

Santa Clara, Calif. – The newest short pulse, UV fiber laser from Coherent, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) (Nasdaq: COHR) delivers the highest peak power currently available from a UV fiber laser, enabling it to address a wider range of materials than previously possible.  Specifically, the new Daytona HE, with output at 355 nm, produces nanosecond and shorter pulses with peak powers of >45 kW (at repetition rates up to 525 kHz) and high pulse energies of >70 µJ (at up to 325 kHz repetition rate).  Combined with its excellent, TEM00, mode quality (M²<1.3), this makes the Daytona-HE an ideal tool for precision micromachining of a comprehensive range of semiconductors, glasses, organics, metals, and other materials.  Moreover, Daytona is a highly flexible platform that can be adjusted over a broad operating range to match the exact needs of a particular application. For example, pulsewidth can be adjusted from <1 ns to 20 ns, while repetition rate can go from single shot to over 2 MHz.

Daytona lasers are targeted at high precision materials processing applications in which high throughput is critical and operational flexibility is advantageous (for example, where output parameters must be changed to account for different materials and/or different thicknesses).  Typical examples include wafer dicing, scribing and drilling (especially with low ê materials), glass scribing for touch panels and LCDs, touch screen patterning, as well as thin film scribing for photovoltaics (solar) manufacturing.

Founded in 1966, Coherent, Inc. is a world leader in providing photonics based solutions to the commercial and scientific research markets, and is part of the Standard & Poor’s SmallCap 600 Index and the Russell 2000.
