ShoreTel Unveils Enhanced Unified Communications for Enterprises of All Sizes

ShoreTel streamlines workplace communications with increased mobility, expanded international support, additional switch capacity and color phones

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 12 - ShoreTel®, Inc. (NASDAQ:SHOR), a leading provider of Pure IP Unified Communications solutions, today announced the latest release of its award-winning unified communications system. This release offers customers new options for extending corporate communications to mobile workers, increased support for international locations and reliable switches that provide twice the capacity in half the space. ShoreTel also introduced two new telephones: the ShorePhone(TM) IP 265, which features an easy-to-read, high-contrast color display, and the ShorePhone IP 115, an enhanced entry-level speakerphone.

ShoreTel delivers its unique distributed software architecture on a switch-based appliance that is deployed across a customer's network. This combination of a highly reliable appliance and advanced communications capabilities provides enterprise customers a reliable, always-on communications solution. ShoreTel 7.5 easily integrates with Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007, and eliminates the cost and complexity associated with typical unified communications solutions. ShoreTel's reliability, ease-of-use and low total cost of ownership (TCO) have resulted in high customer satisfaction and broad industry recognition.

"As business professionals become more mobile, companies need to ensure employee productivity remains strong regardless of device, location or platform," said Collin Summers, director of information technology at L.R. Nelson Corporation. "Therefore, mobility is a must-have component of a company's unified communications strategy. With ShoreTel's new mobile offering, business professionals are provided with visual voicemail with easy retrieval options, access to the corporate directory with convenient speed dialing, and the ability to assign a corporate extension to any phone in the world even while they are traveling. With the addition of the ShoreWare Mobile Call Manager, we are able to further unify our communications."

ShoreTel 7.5 Features

Unified Communications for the Mobile Professional -- ShoreTel's new ShoreWare® Mobile Call Manager extends to mobile phones the same visual communications environment customers rely on at their desktop, providing mobile workers with a visual interface for managing their communications and staying connected. With the Office Anywhere feature, employees can redirect calls made to their office extension to their mobile device or any other phone - ensuring they can be reached no matter where they are located. Mobile Call Manager's Quick Dial allows mobile users to find and connect to other people by searching the corporate directory and personal address book, then place the call with a click of a button. Visual Voicemail offers a display of current voicemails, including a ten-second preview of each message, allowing workers to choose which messages to listen to and in what order, and to place calls directly from a voicemail message. An integrated Call History offers a display of all the previous calls to an office extension, allowing mobile employees to prioritize their responses to these calls.

International Deployments - With this new release, ShoreTel offers greater flexibility for international deployments, including native BRI connectivity. With version 7.5, the ShoreTel IP Unified Communications system now supports 11 languages and 20 countries' dial plans, allowing multinational companies to leverage an easy-to-use, easy-to-manage, single-image system across globally distributed locations.

New Switches - Twice the Capacity/Half the Space - ShoreTel's ShoreGear® voice switches provide far more reliable call management than server-centric alternatives. ShoreGear voice switches are highly intelligent devices that unify communications across multiple enterprise locations. The new ShoreGear voice switches enable more effective use of space in data centers by doubling the number of users that can be served from a single voice switch, while reducing the footprint by half. In addition to providing increased capacity in a smaller footprint, the new switches consume 20% less power, making the switching 60% more efficient than the previous generation. The new hardware is also 100 percent interoperable with existing ShoreGear switches, allowing customers to deploy any combination of new and existing switches.

Versatile Phones - The ShorePhone IP 265 is a six-line phone in a compact form factor with a crisp back-lit color display for knowledge workers with advanced requirements. It also has eight feature keys and four soft keys for easy access to the rich ShoreTel feature set. A full duplex speakerphone and integrated headset jack are also standard.

The ShorePhone IP 115 is a cost-effective, single-line IP telephone that is ideal for open areas including lobbies, visitor offices, classrooms and dorm rooms. It offers six feature keys for common operations; a one-line display that shows caller ID, date and time; and a full duplex speakerphone for hands-free calling.

"Our new products consistently deliver the reliability and ease-of-use our users expect, and the manageability and scalability IT departments demand," said Steve Timmerman, vice president of marketing at ShoreTel. "In today's mobile world, employees must stay fully connected to their office communications system. With ShoreTel 7.5, companies will increase the efficiency of their employees and eliminate the frustration of not being able to reach key people when they are needed."
