High Power Low Profile Shielded Inductors From BI Technologies Rated for 180°C

Fullerton, Calif (August 12, 2005) - Providing design engineers with a compact, shielded inductor that delivers stable electrical performance even at elevated temperatures, TT electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division recently developed a series of high current, low profile power inductors that are rated for operation to 180°C. Designated the HM70 Series, these surface mount devices provide design engineers with a compact inductor ideal for high-temperature applications where PC board space is at a premium.

"The HM70 Series inductors are specified for a maximum temperature rise of 50°C with minimal change in electrical performance," said David Smolik, Director of Product Development for the TT electronics BI Technologies Magnetics Division. "They are designed to operate under full load conditions up to 130°C without derating, which is critical for design engineers whose circuits must perform under high temperatures."

The maximum operating temperature range for the devices is -40°C to 180°C, Smolik explained, with derating for temperatures above 130°C.

The HM70 Series inductors are ideal for underhood automotive and server/router applications that must operate in high temperature environments. Additionally the HM70 family is ideally suited for compact VRM and dc/dc converter modules.

The HM70 Series inductors feature typical inductance values from .70 to 2.10µH (±20%, measured at 100kHz), with DC resistance values from 1.05 to 4.71mohm. Rated current ranges from 12 to 34Adc @25°C.

The HM70 Series inductors are available in seven package sizes ranging from 9mm x 10.5mm to 13.5mm x 12.9mm, with a board-mounted profile that ranges from 3.7mm x 5.50mm.

Typical pricing for the HM70 Series is .67 each in quantities of 10,000, with delivery from stock to 10 weeks.
