Shaver Enclosure Provides Needed Space and Protects Products from the Elements


Kitchener, ON – Shaver Industries was approached by a large retail store that wanted to utilize a 15' by 80' outdoor, covered and fenced-in space at the front of their store to display seasonal items such as Christmas trees, patio furniture, wheelbarrows and ladders. One of their challenges, in addition to the need to protect their products from the elements, was the requirement to maintain easy accessibility to the emergency exits.



Shaver recommended a Klearspan curtain system that met the client's use, conditions, and space considerations. The solution was a series of sliding curtains that can be opened in the summer and closed on rainy, snowy days. A clear valance allows in light, and the curtains keep unwanted birds from nesting in the rafters and eliminate bird waste droppings on products. Finally, curtains were fixed to the exit gates to keep access clear to the emergency exits.



The customer was extremely pleased with the year round, extra square footage as well as the savings they experienced in terms of the reduction of damaged product and boxes that would previously have been returned to the manufacturer or sold at a discount. If their needs change, these products are easy to remove or restructure, in comparison to fixed blocks or metal partitions, which often cost 30 to 40% of an initial investment to remove.
