Shaker System Drives EDAG Engineering's Test Facility Expansion

German automotive test house improves large component test capabilities with new V8 shaker

GERMANY - Engineering expert EDAG Engineering GmbH has expanded its automotive test capabilities with a new V8 shaker and guided head expander.

EDAG - a specialist in assessing the effects of vibration on large structures, such as car frames - has experienced increasing demand from its automotive suppliers for quicker tests, in order to speed up their own productivity.

To boost its Munich-based test facility’s output, EDAG chose Brüel Kjær’s V8 high force shaker and a guided head expander, which is large enough to bear various vehicle parts. This enables its engineers to test maximum displacement, velocity and force at the same time.

The system also has an acoustic enclosure for its air-cooling system, which protects the engineers’ hearing, as it reduces the noise levels during tests.

To keep its new investment in perfect order, EDAG also invested in a five-year platinum service contract from Brüel Kjær. The contract includes regular equipment servicing and readily available technical help, by telephone or on-site assistance.
