MECO Launches Next Generation of Standard Screw Conveyor Seals

29 April, 2009, Georgetown, Maine:

MECO, long known for its custom shaft seals, introduces a new generation of high-performing standard-sized seals for screw conveyors and similar equipment: the HB model.

HB model seals have many of the design features used in MECO's famous custom shaft seals, but will be in stock as of summer 2009 in five CEMA and seven metric shaft sizes: from 1-½" to 3-7/16" and from 40mm to 90mm. HB seals are designed to perform under 90% of the typical operating conditions associated with screw conveyors or scrolls. This includes food-grade applications, temperatures up to 500ºF (260ºC), abrasive products and vertical or inclined conveyors. The HB accommodates up to ¼" (6mm) of shaft run-out.

High temperatures, speed or pressures, shaft run-out and abrasive products all pose critical challenges for waste pack housings and other seals. MECO has traditionally met these challenges with its custom seal designs; now with standard HB series seals, MECO will have solutions in stock, manufactured to the same exacting standards at an economical price.

Woodex Bearing Company, Inc. of Georgetown, Maine has developed and manufactured MECO's nine seal models since 1984. Woodex also manufactures Woodex Bearings: fully-split, shimless oil-impregnated maple plane bearings for screw conveyors, roll conveyors, etc.
