New Generation of SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE® Shaft-sealing Solutions Eliminates Need to Rework or Replace Worn or Damaged Shafts

The new generation of SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE® introduces an advanced and cost-effective sealing solution for worn or damaged shafts on rotating equipment. These easily installed sleeves provide an excellent sealing surface without requiring shaft disassembly or specifying a new size of replacement seal. A removable flange simplifies installation without power tools or heating and shafts can be up-and-running within minutes at a fraction of the cost of traditional reworking.

The sleeves benefit from a proprietary stainless steel material and manufacturing process, which create an optimized seal counterface surface and increased sleeve strength exhibiting excellent ductile properties. Imperceptible lubricant pockets enable lubricant to reside on the sleeve to prevent dry-running of the sealing lip that could otherwise result in excessive wear.

Each SPEEDI-SLEEVE is designed to fit a specific shaft range, usually above and below the nominal shaft diameter, permitting flexibility to accommodate variations in the actual shaft diameter. Extremely thin sleeve walls (0.28mm or 0.011 in.) allow users to retain the original seal size. Standard sleeves are available for shaft diameters from 11.99mm (0.472 in.) to 203.33mm (8 in.) and non-standard sizes can be custom manufactured.

For highly abrasive applications SPEEDI-SLEEVE also is offered in Gold versions. These incorporate a thin, metallic coating applied to the base stainless steel to realize increased durability in contaminant-prone operating conditions.
