SFP Optical Module Controller has dual-receiver interface.

Press Release Summary:

Model DS1877 controls and monitors all receiver functions for SFP and SFP+ optical modules, with full support for SFF-8472 specification. It monitors 4 analog channels, including temperature, VCC, and 2 external differential signals, and loss of signal is continuously monitored in both receiver channels. Contained in 5 x 5 mm, 28-pin TQFN package, SPF video controller is specified over -40 to +95°C temperature range and eliminates need for MCUs and software development.

SFP Optical Module Controller with Dual-Receiver Interface Enables Low-Cost Optical Video Solutions

Controller eases design of low-cost media converters and optical video modules.

Maxim's dual-receiver SFP controller eliminates the costly, time-consuming software development required by microcontroller-based solutions.

SUNNYVALE, CA - Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the DS1877, an SFP video controller with a dual-receiver interface. This device controls and monitors all receiver functions for SFP and SFP+ optical modules and fully supports the SFF-8472 specification. The DS1877 controls dual-receiver SFP modules and enables the low-cost implementation of SDI digital video and other optical video applications. Its state-machine approach eliminates the need for expensive microcontrollers and, in turn, avoids the costly software development they require. Paired with the DS1876 (an SFP controller with dual laser driver interface), the DS1877 enables full-featured optical video modules at a fraction of the cost of microcontroller-based designs.

The DS1877 monitors four analog channels: temperature, VCC, and two external differential signals. Loss of signal (LOS) is continuously monitored in both receiver channels, and all LOS functionality is supported.

The DS1877 is fully specified over the -40°C to +95°C temperature range, and is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 28-pin TQFN package. Pricing starts at $1.75 (1000-up, FOB USA).
