SETAL Oleo e Gas S/A Realise Compelling Business Benefits with AVEVA Plant

Integration enables improved use of information with cost and time savings

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - 14 June 2011: AVEVA (LSE:AVV), a leader in engineering design and information management solutions for the plant, power and marine industries, announced today that SETAL Óleo e Gás of Brazil, a leading EPC, has successfully implemented AVEVA Plant.

Having previously used a traditional manual approach, which consisted of paper and batchwise workflows between disciplines, one of the main advantages of AVEVA Plant for SETAL was the smooth flow of information throughout the lifecycle of their project. All data generated for the project is fully integrated with all users, creating a seamless link between engineering and construction, while reducing expensive rework.

"The traditional approach previously used, demanded intensive manpower, had a poor information flow and scope modifications proved difficult, which resulted in data being dispersed across several files", said Mr. Mauricio Godoy, CEO at SETAL. "SETAL decided to invest in AVEVA Plant in order to respond better to the demanding and competitive market, and to enable the cost-effective reuse of information already available".

"During the 'AVATAR Project', where we launched AVEVA within SETAL, we were able to integrate AVEVA Plant across all disciplines, monitor all of our information online and reduce our overall manpower by 30%. We were able to measure how AVEVA Plant's global engineering framework can dramatically improve our project operations", added Mr. Newton Libanio Ferreira, Process Engineering Manager at SETAL.

"SETAL has important projects in the refining area and a promising growth forecast. The results achieved during the 'AVATAR Project' demonstrates that AVEVA Plant is able to provide systems integration to assist SETAL in reaching its true potential", commented Santiago Pena, Vice President for Latin America at AVEVA.

Among SETAL's main projects are four refinery expansions for Petrobras - Replan, Repar, Revap and Reduc, as part of the Gas Production Anticipation (Plangás) plan. Each project has already leveraged AVEVA PDMS, the most widely used software in Latin America for the design of process plant and power facilities.

AVEVA Plant is an integrated suite of software for plant engineering, design and design management. Built around AVEVA PDMS and using powerful object-centric technology, it is the most productive engineering software solution available for the power and process plant industries.

SETAL, based in Rio de Janeiro and with offices in Sao Paulo, employs 400 people and its primary business areas include Oil and Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy.
