SMAC Corporation Introduces the LCA8 Series Direct Drive Servo Linear Actuator

SMAC Corporation introduces the LCA8 series direct drive servo linear actuator, its compact size is only 8mm in width and is ideal for pick & place and assembly applications and more.

Carlsbad, California: SMAC Corporation announces the launch of the LCA8, the latest addition to its LCA series of high performance and low cost linear actuators, initially designed to replace pneumatic cylinders with an expected 10 times improvement in cycle life over pneumatics.

The LCA8 is compact measuring only 50mm x 95mm x 8mm for 10mm stroke, the stroke range will extend up to 50mm. The actuator can achieve peak force 5N at 3Amp, and acceleration up to >20G. The unit is available with a vacuum shaft and spring option. This makes the unit ideal for pick & place and assembly applications.

The LCA8 is offered with encoder resolution of 5 micron as standard, and 1 or 0.1 micron optional. The unit is also useful for measuring & testing operations where high speed & accuracy are required. The unit also enables 100% data feedback of all operations as standard.

The unit can offer a long life expectancy due to linear guides with built in lubrication.

As with all SMAC actuators, the LCA8 series of linear actuator has independent control of position, speed, and force. Further to this, the SMAC patented Soft-Land capability is incorporated to allow the actuator to land on parts gently and then apply required forces. This is ideal for handling fragile or expensive components and material. The actuator also has the ability to do work and simultaneously provide feedback about the success or failure of the work done.

About SMAC Corporation - Founded in 1990 in Carlsbad, California USA, SMAC has grown to become a world leader in Moving Coil technology and is now the largest manufacturer of Moving Coil Actuators in the world. SMAC manufactures on a global basis with production, technical support and service facilities in the USA, Europe and Asia. SMAC manufactures precision programmable electric actuators based on moving coil technology. These actuators are unique in that force, position and speed are totally programmable. They are designed to perform at exceptionally high speeds or very low speeds and with sub-micron accuracy and verifiable repeatability.
