Scalability of New Allen-Bradley Kinetix 2000 Servo Drives from Rockwell Automation Expands Application Versatility

Additional power ranges provide OEMs and end users more complete selection of motion control solutions for small packaging applications

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 25, 2007 - The high precision and advanced control capabilities of Kinetix servo technology are now available in lower power ranges with the new Allen Bradley Kinetix 2000 servo drives from Rockwell Automation. Ideal for small packaging applications, these additions to the Kinetix family offer end users an even wider selection of motion control performance capabilities, while enabling OEMs to expand their offerings with solutions that better suit end users with lower power requirements. With power ranges of 300 watts to 3 kW, this new servo drive seamlessly integrates with Allen-Bradley Logix controllers, servo motors and actuators to bring unmatched flexibility to machine design and unprecedented energy efficiency to manufacturing control systems.

"Historically, OEMs who wanted a high degree of precision and throughput from their servo drives were required to specify systems with higher power capabilities," said Paul Whitney, product manager, Rockwell Automation. "With the Kinetix 2000, they can get that precision and throughput in a form that's right for their application."

As with the rest of the Kinetix servo drives, the Kinetix 2000 is scalable for handling a wide range of applications ranging from 300 watts to 3 kilowatts. Additionally, the ability of the drives to integrate with the rest of the control platform simplifies machine design, commissioning and operation.

"Every Allen-Bradley Kinetix servo drive fits seamlessly into the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture(TM), and provides the same simplicity in operation and enhanced machine performance," said Whitney.

The modular design of the Kinetix servo drives helps minimize wiring time and related costs by greatly reducing the total number of connections. The cost-effectiveness of the Kinetix 2000 drives can be fully realized when they are teamed with the Allen Bradley MP-Series Low Inertia servo motor and the 230-volt Allen-Bradley TL-Series Motor along with the CompactLogix L43 Controller. Additional features include:
· Power Rail. One simple power rail serves as a mounting and connecting system, making design and installation fast and easy while minimizing wiring and maintenance costs.
· SERCOS Interface. A single, digital fiber-optic link provides seamless integration into the Allen-Bradley Logix controller platforms for Kinetix multi-axis integrated motion, and eliminates up to 18 discrete wires per axis.
