Philadelphia Scientific Offers Reconditioning Service for Water Injector(TM) Systems

MONTGOMERYVILLE, Pa., January 4, 2006 - Philadelphia Scientific, a leading international manufacturer of industrial battery components, accessories and tools, has introduced enhancements to the reconditioning program for its Water Injector(tm) System used with industrial batteries. The company's Water Injector Systems often out-live the batteries they are on, so it is usually not necessary to purchase a new string of Water Injectors when the battery needs replacement. Philadelphia Scientific offers a reconditioning service as an alternative to replacement. For approximately one-half the cost of a new system, Water Injectors can be sent back to the company for refurbishing through the customer's distributor or battery manufacturer and are returned looking and performing like new.

The new reconditioning service includes:
- thorough washing of Water Injectors and 1/4 turn adapters;
- installation of brand new connecting tubing and removal of old tubing;
- the same extensive quality control testing as required for new products;
- and replacement of any imperfect parts, including broken Water Injectors.

Under the new program, Water Injectors of any age qualify for reconditioning. Any Water Injector still under warranty will have the warranty extended for one year after reconditioning. If the original five-year warranty has expired, Water Injectors can still be sent for refurbishing and Philadelphia Scientific will warrant their performance for one year. Loose Water Injectors can also be refurbished and will be returned to the customer as a complete system with brand new connecting tubing.

"Reconditioning is an easy, cost-effective way to add value to already existing Water Injector Systems," said Harold Vanasse, vice president of sales and marketing for Philadelphia Scientific. "Rather than buying an all new system when a battery needs replacement, customers can have their Water Injectors reconditioned and returned functioning like new for one-half the cost, providing a great return on investment."

Philadelphia Scientific offers the refurbishing service through distributors and battery manufacturers. Interested customers can call their distributor directly to inquire about the service. Or, if they are unsure of whom to call, Philadelphia Scientific can direct them to a nearby distributor.
