Timken Expands Reliability Offering with Remote Service



CANTON, Ohio - March 18, 2008 - The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) today announced the expansion of its array of machinery and equipment reliability solutions to include a remote monitoring and diagnostics service available in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The service will improve predictive maintenance activities for machinery used in heavy-industry and power-transmission markets, including metals, pulp and paper, food, mining, power generation, chemical processing and cement.

The service provides continuous, plant-wide predictive monitoring of rotating equipment. Components include permanently mounted plug-and-play design sensors, field units with digital signal processors built in for signal analysis, a wireless architecture and Web-based applications.
