Honeywell Offers Results ROI Service for MXOpen Systems

Service Enables Customers to Save Money and Improve Product Quality

PHOENIX, June 2, 2004-Honeywell (NYSE: HON) introduces a new service specifically targeted to pulp and paper mills using MXOpen systems. Honeywell Results ROI Service is a revolutionary new service for pulp and paper manufacturers that helps to improve product quality and reduces operational costs through effective asset management and process optimization.

Results ROI Service, which was introduced to DaVinci(tm) quality control systems (QCS) users in 2003, comprises Honeywell process knowledge experts who use powerful knowledge-based tools to deliver maximum business results for customers. Rigorously trained in equipment, processes and controls, Honeywell experts use these tools to monitor and analyze process performance and to tap into the embedded knowledge of other Honeywell technical experts around the world to resolve problems as much as 50 percent faster than ever before.

"Honeywell Results ROI has been very useful in helping us to identify the causes of a problem when a customer files a complaint and to troubleshoot process variations," said Steve Parent, Paper Machine Engineer for Bowater, which began Beta testing Results ROI in Fall 2003. "When a roll breaks in a print room, for example, Honeywell Results ROI collects data on environmental conditions, generating profiles on humidity, thickness and dry weight, to determine a correlation." The combination of experts and tools enables customers to continuously analyze process variability and collect information for preventative maintenance and decision-making purposes. By employing an early warning alert system, Honeywell experts often respond to problems before operators detect them. The service also provides a paper machine signature report, which provides a snapshot of the paper machines' performance that can be used for future performance comparisons. "The Honeywell Results ROI service is an exciting tool for customers because it aligns with their objectives and overall vision of improving processes and product quality," said Jack Bolick, President, Honeywell Process Solutions. "This reliable service empowers Honeywell pulp and paper manufacturers to proactively manage their operations while minimizing process disruptions." Honeywell has more than 30 years of experience in quality control solutions and works with more than 850 paper mills worldwide to improve performance and product quality.
