Service and Attention to Safety Bring Customer Back to the (Cutting) Table for More

Mississauga, Canada – When Clearwater Welding & Fabrication Ltd., of Fort McMurray, Alberta, decided to get a new cutting machine for its welding and fabricating business, the choice of supplier was easy. Clearwater bought its first machine from Linde Canada Ltd., and the experience was so positive, the company only thought of Linde when the need for a replacement cutting system arose.

Linde Canada is an affiliate of The Linde Group, a world leading gases and engineering company. Clearwater Welding & Fabrication is a subsidiary of ClearStream Energy Services, a provider of maintenance, welding, fabricating, and machining services for the oil sands industry.

Jeff Gillard, Clearwater general manager, said, "I am impressed with how Linde Canada handled the installation of our new MGM Extreme 3100 model cutting machine with an HPR400XD plasma system. We had identified that newer technologies were available to replace our 17-year-old machine and Linde provided us with a cutting solution that would best fit our needs." The new cutting machine delivers the ultimate in mild steel plasma cutting performance with the versatility to produce excellent stainless steel cut quality.

Len Stoesz, lead automation specialist for Linde Canada, said, "Linde Canada's successful installation of a new cutting machine at Clearwater wasn't easy, since it required installing the new machine in the same space as the old one – while ensuring that production wasn't affected and highest safety standards were maintained for all involved."

Installation of the machine had to conform to several special requests regarding the specifications for the new table. It had to work within the confines of the company's existing cutting bed and fit in the exact same spot. It was also important that the installation did not disrupt production, so during the installation the old machine had to keep on working.

"We were very pleased that none of our customers experienced delivery delays due to the installation," said Gillard. "The new machine is performing exactly as we were told it would."

The Linde Group is a world-leading gases and engineering company with around 62,000 employees in more than 100 countries worldwide. In the 2012 financial year, Linde generated revenue of EUR 15.280 bn (USD 19.9 bn).
