New IBM eServer xSeries 336 Servers with up to 3.6 GHz with Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology -- Rack-optimized Servers for Outstanding Computing Power

Overview

The xSeries® 336 server is designed to handle compute-intensive, Web-based, or enterprise network applications. Optimized for Intel's EM64T, the xSeries 336 server enables customers whose applications could benefit from greater memory addressability to migrate to 64-bit computing.

This highly manageable, ultrathin, 1 U high, rack-optimized server features two-way SMP-capable processors, high availability, and scalability.

Power and scalability for on demand business

Apply powerful processors, large amounts of high-performing PC2-3200 ECC DDR2 SDRAM RDIMM memory, and high-bandwidth PCI buses to data center applications:

· 2.8, 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, or 3.6 GHz Intel(TM) Xeon processors with 1 MB advanced transfer L2 cache
· 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB) processors
· 512 or 1 GB of two-way interleaved, high-speed PC2-3200 ECC DDR2 SDRAM RDIMM memory supports up to 16 GB (when 2 GB PC2-3200 memory is available)
· Integrated Ultra320 SCSI with RAID 0 or 1
· Support for hot-swap Ultra320 SCSI and simple-swap SATA HDDs
· Dual Gigabit Ethernet controllers; high I/O capacity for demanding applications, plus failover capability

High availability for around-the-clock e-business
High availability, manageability, and serviceability features help diagnose problems quickly, even from remote locations:

· Redundant cooling fans
· Optional hot-swap/redundant power supplies
· Memory mirroring and hot spare memory configurable using BIOS setup
· Integrated systems management processor
· Operating status and key server components monitoring and control; automatically sends alerts via alert standard format (ASF) for critical errors or component failures
· Predictive Failure Analysis® (PFA) on processors, voltage regulator module (VRM), memory, fans, power supply, and HDD options warns of problems before they occur
· Fast and easy servicing: innovative Light Path Diagnostics, improved on-board diagnostics, and LED diagnostic panel
· Drop-down Light Path Diagnostic panel helps you investigate problem components without opening the system
· Optional Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine card for full out-of-band systems management

Reference information

1 GHz and MHz denote the internal and/or external clock speed of the microprocessor only, not application performance. Many factors affect application performance.

2 When referring to HDD or tape backup capacity, GB stands for 1,000,000,000 bytes. Total user capacity may vary depending on operating environments.

3 Some programs may not be available in all countries.
