CICS® Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) v6.0.1 includes Linux on POWER along with existing platform support for AIX v5.1/2/3, Linux on zSeries®, Solaris v8 or v9, HP-UX11i, and Windows(TM) 2000/XP/2003. Software also supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v4. CICS Universal Client (CICS UC) v6.0.1 offers support for Linux on POWER and AIX v5.1/2/3 as well as RHEL v4. Overview

CICS® Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) V6 and CICS Universal Client (CICS UC) V6 are moved to the V6.0.1 level. Significant new capabilities delivered in this level include:

CICS TG available for Linux(TM) on POWER(TM).

CICS TG support for AIX® now includes AIX V5.3.

CICS UC available for Linux on POWER.

CICS UC available for AIX.

Description

CICS TG V6 and CICS UC V6 have moved to V6.0.1 level. Principally a service refresh, this level also delivers several important new capabilities.

The CICS TG adds Linux on POWER to its existing platform support. It also moves its level of AIX support up to AIX V5.3. In addition, it now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4. This means that the platforms supported by CICS TG are now:

AIX V5.1, AIX V5.2, or AIX V5.3

Linux on zSeries® : SLES 8 or RHEL 3, both with 31-bit kernel; SLES 9 or RHEL 4, both with 64-bit kernel

Linux on Intel(TM) : SLES 8, SLES 9, RHEL 3, or RHEL 4, all with 32-bit kernel

Linux on POWER: SLES 9, RHEL 3, or RHEL 4, all with 64-bit kernel

Solaris V8 or Solaris V9

HP-UX11i

Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) 2000, Windows XP, or Windows 2003

The CICS UC adds both Linux on POWER and AIX to its existing platform support. It also now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4. This means that the platforms supported by CICS UC are now:

AIX V5.1, AIX V5.2, or AIX V5.3

Linux on zSeries: SLES 8 or RHEL 3, both with 31-bit kernel; SLES 9 or RHEL 4, both with 64-bit kernel

Linux on Intel: SUSE Linux Desktop, NLD 9, SLES 9, RHEL 3, or RHEL 4, all with 32-bit kernel

This service release can also deliver significant runtime performance enhancements for request processing. The enhancement is provided in the interface to the Client daemon and is applicable in all circumstances. It is effective immediately on installation of the CICS TG or CICS UC, with no manual intervention.
