Description

Model 810 Enhancements

A new 750 CPW processor feature provides a lower cost entry point for the Model 810. This new processor feature has the same main storage and I/O maximums of the existing Model 810, with upgrade capability up to and including the 2-Way, 2700 CPW Model 810.

Like all model 810s, it can be ordered with either the Standard Edition or the Enterprise Edition.

Additional Upgrade Paths

Additional upgrade paths from Models 720, 730, 820, and 830 into the Models 810 and 825 give you greater flexibility in upgrading directly to a model and processor feature in a single step. You save time in planning and installation.

Prepaid Option for Capacity on Demand

On/Off Capacity on Demand is enhanced with a new prepaid capability to give you additional budgeting flexibility. You can now choose to pay for 30 processor days before activation (prepaid processor days) at a discounted price. Consider this alternative when you don't want to be billed at the end of a quarter for temporary capacity that has been activated.

Prepaid processor days will be credited to your On/Off Capacity on Demand account for the applicable serial number system and applied to records of activated temporary capacity reported for such system. Any processor days used beyond the prepaid quantity will be billed at the regular processor day price. Unused prepaid processor days are not refundable and may not be transferred to another system. As with any processor activations, you are responsible for any additional software charges that may apply.

You must sign the On/Off Capacity on Demand contracts and order the applicable enablement code before purchasing the prepaid feature.

New VXA Technology Tape

The new VXA technology tape drive offerings can store 80 GB of data on a 230-meter cartridge at 6 MB/s data transfer rate (160 GB capacity and 12 MB/s data rate with software data compression). These tape drives can provide an unattended backup solution for a large number of low-end iSeries servers.

The 80 GB VXA-2 tape drives (#4585 and #4685) are integrated features.

The IBM 7206-VX2 tape drive is a stand-alone external device. For more information on the IBM 7206-VX2, refer to Hardware Announcement 103-131 , dated May 13, 2003.

Include these programs at no additional charge on orders placed May 13, 2003, or later, and shipped after May 23, 2003. They help differentiate the Model 800 Value and Standard Editions.
