Overview

The TotalStorage® FAStT100 Storage Server expands the IBM family of Fibre Array Storage Technology (FAStT) highly scalable, storage server offerings with a new entry-level solution to support data archiving, reference data, and near-line storage applications.

The FAStT100 is a 3 U, rack-mountable enclosure built on 2 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) technology designed to provide highly available RAID-protected, economical storage. It can help address the needs of fixed content and data reference applications that require large amounts of storage capacity, but do not require the high utilization and access capabilities associated with FC disk drive storage.

The FAStT100 supports applications running on IBM pSeries® and xSeries® servers as well as servers from Sun, HP, and other Intel(TM)-based servers. The FAStT100 comes with authorization for up to 14 internal disk drive modules and the authorization to attach up to 3 FAStT EXP100 Storage Expansion Units for a total of up to 56 disk drives and up to 14 TB of storage capacity.

This entry-level storage solution supports Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) disk drives. You can scale the FAStT100 storage capacity, and with the attachment of up to three FAStT EXP100 Storage Expansion Units, the server can help address a range of storage requirements for SAN environments.
