MBX Systems Answers the Call for Green Server Appliance Platforms with Energy-Efficient, Scalable Solutions

MBX AP-i1510 platform, featuring new Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors (Nahelem), is part of the initiative allowing application developers to reduce the environmental impact of their appliance-based solution.

WAUCONDA, Ill., April 6 /-- MBX Systems, a leading contract manufacturer and integrator of server appliances for application developers, today announced the launch and availability of the MBX AP-i1510(TM) environmentally green server appliance platform. Configured on Supermicro SuperServers and featuring Intel Xeon processors (Nehalem), MBX manufactures the AP-i1510 to provide dynamic performance and scalability on an appliance-based solution.

Components of the MBX AP-i1510 platform enable the highest system-level efficiency:

-- 1U rackmount form factor use 80PLUS Gold Level power

-- 200 watt high-efficiency power supply

-- Intel Xeon processors (Nehalem) with QPI up to 6.4 Gb/s

-- Hard drive power efficiency of 125Gb/watt

-- Compliance with RoHS directive

The MBX AP-i1510 platform configuration is the building block for an affordable green server appliance that fulfills the requirements for a robust, power-efficient solution. It is scalable in design and incorporates energy-efficient performance not previously available on a server appliance platform.

With energy cost being the primary data center expense, the MBX AP-i1510 conserves electricity while optimizing airflow. The system is RoHS-compliant and recyclable at the end of its lifecycle. For companies that demand unique performance from their appliances, MBX can configure custom green platforms to accommodate different requirements. A customizable off-the-shelf 2U variation of the green platform will be unveiled second quarter 2009.

"Based on the tens of thousands of server appliances we manufacture each year, as a company we decided to aggressively adopt green technology - from our manufacturing supply chain, to our production processes, and through to our commercial product offering," explains Tom Crowley, MBX Systems chief executive officer. "Given the impact on energy consumption alone, we see a great opportunity to reduce the environmental effects of our OEM appliance customers. The companies who deploy green appliance-based solutions may also benefit from emergent opportunities in data centers opting exclusively for green technologies."

MBX will display the AP-i1510 green server appliance and a variety of other custom-branded server appliance platforms at two industry conferences this spring. MBX is exhibiting at RSA Conference, April 20 through 24, 2009, in booth #2538 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. MBX is exhibiting in booth #1009 at Interop Las Vegas, May 19 through 21, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

MBX manufacturers and deploys server appliances globally for companies in over 40 vertical industries, including network security, network monitoring, network storage, content management, archiving, network acceleration, data center, content management, homeland security, industrial automation, video production, digital signage, communications and messaging, and spam filtering, among others.
