PDS 700 Series: Programmable Serial Port to Ethernet Device Server

The electronic revolution enabled the Internet and networking revolutions. Unfortunately, many electronic devices aren't equipped to interface with networks, especially devices commonly used in automation projects, such as PLC's, sensors and controllers. Such a shortcoming clearly undermines how helpful and integrated such technologies can be. Our PDS 700 series of programmable serial to Ethernet device servers solves this common problem. These compact, pod-like machines offer a host of features to network-enable devices on the plant floor and in the office and home environments.

Any device with a RS-232/485/422 port can be connected to an Ethernet network and thereby be remotely controlled and monitored. With the VxComm utility, the built-in COM port on PDS-700 models can be virtualized to a standard COM port of a host PC. The 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port is fully featured with auto-negotiation, auto_MDIX and LED indicator while the RS-485 port is similarly sophisticated with its self-tuner ASIC controller. The modules in the PDS-700 series offer powerful programming functionality as device servers which run on ICP DAS's built-in MiniOS7.

These servers may be sophisticated, but delicate they are not. The serial ports provide +/-4KV ESD and the modules also employ power reverse polarity protection. The units feature fire retardant materials at the level of UL94-V0 and run smoothly in a temperature span of -25°C to +75°C. The safety of watchdog timers ensures these models will be reliable in harsh environments. Powerful individual components often aren't enough. The Serial-to-Ethernet Programmable Device Servers of our PDS-700 series enable your devices to connect to the network.
