Original Press Release:

Serial to Ethernet Converter with 3DES Data Encryption

The HelloDevice Pro Series from Sena Technologies is a serial to Ethernet converter to manage RS232/422/485 based serial devices over the network. It provides IP address filtering function to protect unintentional data streams to be transmitted to the serial device, and static key based 3DES data encryption to promise secure data communication. In addition, by setting the cryptography method as 3DES, the HelloDevice Pro Series can communicate with other HelloDevice Pro Series in encrypted sessions.

The HelloDevice Pro Series supports open network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP and PPPoE allowing serial devices to be accessed over DSL- based broadband network or conventional LAN environment. User can choose the host mode of HelloDevice Pro Series as a TCP Server mode, TCP Client mode, TCP Server and Client mode, Modem emulation mode, UDP tunneling mode, or UDP server mode. Modem emulation mode supports several basic AT commands for TCP session control so that users can change the host mode on-line from the serial device by using AT commands. With advanced options, user can configure remote host access control, and locating server.

Application areas include remote monitoring and management of RS232/422/485 based serial devices and providing embedded Internet solutions. The HelloDevice Pro Series provides the full-featured management functions such as status monitor; remote reset, error log monitor and firmware upgrade using Telnet and serial console port under the password protection support. It transfers the serial data up to 115kbps and has a reliable TCP/IP protocol stack. Management software is provided for configuration and administration.
