Serial Output Transmitters fit 35 mm DIN rail.

Press Release Summary:

Available with 3-terminal screw clamp connector for serial data I/O, Laureate(TM) TM2000 Series transmitters convert temperature sensor signal to linearized, accurate serial transmitter output. They accept outputs of types J, K, T, E, N, R and S thermocouples, as well as 100 W platinum RTD's with DIN alpha of 0.00385 or ANSI alpha of 0.003925. RS485 or RS232 signal levels are jumper selectable and can each be associated with Modbus protocol/Laurel ASCII protocol.

Modbus Protocol Offered with Serial Output Temperature Transmitters

Costa Mesa, CA - Laurel Electronics, Inc. announces the availability Laureate(TM) TM2000 Series serial output transmitters, which convert a temperature sensor signal to a linearized, highly accurate, serial transmitter output. The transmitter accepts the outputs of types J, K, T, E, N, R and S thermocouples, plus 100 ohm platinum RTD's with DIN alpha of 0.00385 or ANSI alpha of 0.003925. The thermocouple or RTD type, unit of measure (°C or °F), and resolution (1° or 0.1°) are user selectable.

The transmitters fit a 35 mm DIN rail and come with a three-terminal screw clamp connector for serial data I/O. RS485 or RS232 signal levels are jumper selectable and can each be associated with either the Modbus protocol or Laurel's simpler Laurel ASCII protocol. A single software command switches between the two protocols.

Modbus protocol operation is fully compliant with the Modbus Over Serial Line Specification V1.0 (2002) for 2-wire, half-duplex connection. This includes RTU or ASCII modes, addressing of up to 32 devices per RS485 line without a repeater, and up to 247 digital addresses. The Modbus protocol is implemented by the microcomputer on the main board and is selectable as a menu option during device setup. Modbus operation allows devices by different manufacturers to be connected in parallel and be addressed using the same protocol.

Laurel ASCII protocol operation allows up to 31 Laureate devices to be addressed on the same RS485 data line. It is simpler than the Modbus protocol and can be used when all devices on the line are Laureates. It also allows use of Laurel's PC-based Data Logging Software.

Transmitter programming is via the unit's serial port using Laurel's PC-based Instrument Setup Software. This software can be downloaded from the Laurel's website at no charge. The required transmitter-to-PC interface cable is available from Laurel (P/N CBL03).

TM2000 transmitter options include dual solid state relays rated 120 mA at 125 Vac or 240 mA at 150 Vdc, and an isolated, user-scalable 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, or 0-10V analog output.

The new Laureate TM2000 serial output transmitters augment Laurel's family of Laureate 1/8 DIN size digital panel meters, counters, timers and 6-digit remote displays. These constitute a comprehensive family of instruments for measurement, display and control of all popular industrial signals associated with voltage, current, temperature, or pulse inputs.

Laureate Modbus DIN rail transmitters utilize the same signal conditioners as their 1/8 DIN instrument counterparts and are available for the same signal types. Pricing for base units, including the Modbus interface, is $210. Please see laurels.com/transmitter-modbus-temperature.htm.
