New Serial Cards Fit Any PCI Slot
Two new series of serial communications cards fit both 3.3V and 5V PCI slots. They also come with both standard (12-cm) and low-profile (8-cm) backplates, so they fit both sizes of slots. COML and CYBL cards from CyberResearch® provide data rates up to 460 kbps and FIFO buffers up to 128 bytes.
Universal and low-profile PCI slots make lots of sense. Universal PCI slots accommodate 3.3V power, along with the 5V, +12V, and -12V of standard PCI slots. Low-profile slots accomodate much smaller and lighter cards, so they help designers shrink the size of products that use these slots.
