Sequence Recognition System assures screw fastening conformity.

Press Release Summary:

Designed to prevent defects in products before they are made, Sequence Recognition System monitors fastener tightening sequence and provides feedback to disable/enable tool based on pre-programmed characteristics if proper fastener sequence is not followed. System can discern between fasteners with 0.25 in. center to center distances and greater. When used with ASG Precision Fastening X-PAQ(TM) system, sequence recognition system ensures proper torque, sequence, and revolution tolerance is achieved.

ASG Announces New Sequence Recognition System in the Precision Fastening Product Group

New product assures process conformity in screw fastening assemblies.

Cleveland, - ASG announces a new sequence recognition system, a smart way to assure process conformity in screw fastening assemblies. Many manufacturers require a specific sequence in which fasteners are to be installed in order to yield a quality assembly. ASG's new sequence recognition system monitors the fastener tightening sequence and provides feedback to disable or enable the tool based upon pre-programmed characteristics if the proper fastener sequence is not followed. The system is designed to prevent errors and defects in products before they are made.

When used together with the ASG Precision Fastening X-PAQ(TM) system, the new sequence recognition system can help control facilities' processes by ensuring that the proper torque, sequence, and revolution tolerance is achieved. ASG offers customers the ability to integrate the X-PAQ(TM) precision fastening system and the new sequence recognition system into existing workstation controls, or to engineer a custom integrated services workstation for full Poke-Yoke process control.

The ASG sequence recognition system offers the ability to discern between fasteners with 0.25" center to center distances and greater. In addition to tight center to center distances, a further benefit is with multi-level component fastening ability and object detection inspection capability to allow for an assembly cell or station with outstanding process flexibility. Furthermore, the system is capable of compensating for variations in part placement relative to the camera, reducing the need for fixturing of the part in the workstation. (ASG sequence recognition system is Patent Pending.)
