Sensors and Switches meet CO2-driven HVAC/R system needs.

Press Release Summary:

Resistant to vibration and EMI, R744 pressure sensor uses strain gages that are glass-fused onto stainless steel membrane. Hermetic structure lends to media resistance, and transducer - accurate to within 1% across -40 to +135°C range - supports up to 30,000 psi. Also available, R744 pressure switch uses Klixon(TM) snap-action disc design and supports up to 2,000 psi across -20 to +120°C range. Both products suit R744-based air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Sensata Technologies Offers New High-Pressure Sensor for CO2-Driven (R744) HVAC/R System Needs

Pressure Sensors and Switches Meet High-Pressure Demands of Growing R744 HVAC/R Applications

ATTLEBORO, Mass., Jan. 23 -- Tracking the growing environmental and regulatory demands for R744-based air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, Sensata Technologies (www.sensata.com) has developed a line of pressure sensors and switches designed to withstand the R744's high- pressure operating range. These new devices support this ozone-preserving, non-toxic and non-flammable refrigerant and are among the sensing and power- protection products on display at the Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition, in New York, Jan. 22-24, at booth #7929.

Designing to the technical requirements of R744 systems, Sensata's engineering team combined proven, robust low-cost sensor and switch technologies with HVAC/R system needs to deliver R744-capable products to the HVAC/R industry.

"The industry is deploying more and more R744 systems because they offer excellent efficiency and have zero global warming potential," said John Forsyth, Sensata Technologies HVAC Marketing Manager. "But with those benefits the sensors and switches need to perform accurately at roughly five times the pressures of conventional AC or Refrigeration systems."

Sensata's R744 pressure switch uses a proven Klixon(TM), snap-action disc design to meet R744 systems' high-pressure demands. The pressure switch is capable to 2,000 psi and across the wide temperature range of -20 to 120 C.

The R744 pressure sensor uses strain gages that are glass-fused onto a stainless steel membrane. This inherent hermetic structure leads to unparalleled media resistance and creates a very robust package design. This transducer is capable to 30,000 psi and accurate (within 1 percent) across a temperature range of -40 to 135 C. The transducer's high resistance to vibration and electromagnetic resistance make this device the preferred choice for R744 applications.

Sensata Technologies' pressure sensors and switches come in a wide range of fittings, packaging materials, pressure ratings and electrical inputs/outputs. The company will be exhibiting at and available for comment during the AHR Expo in New York Jan. 22-24, at booth #7929.
