Innovative American Technology Offers Integrated CBRNE Sensor System for Homeland Defense

BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 17 -- Innovative American Technology Inc. (IAT) has designed the first fully Integrated Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear and Explosives (I-CBRNE) sensor system based on advanced sensor technologies and the company's proprietary spectral analysis software. The sensors are supported by a central software platform that provides identification and tracking of radiological isotopes, chemical and biological material and explosives. The I-CBRNE system can be deployed for the protection of strategic positions such as seaports, cargo containers, airports, subways, railways, cities and critical infrastructure and other areas. The system is designed for deployment in homeland security, military and commercial applications. The first round of field-testing has been performed at an intermodal center for railway, air-cargo and trucking container inspection using the radiation sensors and a mobile command center. The radiation sensor sub-system is identified as the Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS).

The RTIS from IAT provides advanced sensor systems that are rugged and can be deployed in aggressive environments such as embedded in the roadway for border protection, protection of our cities, seaport and airport applications. The RTIS can be applied on the gantry crane arm at seaports and intermodal facilities to enable 100% inspection of shipping containers without impact to the flow of goods. These strategic positions provide extended exposure time for verification of containers and vehicles. The RTIS identifies the specific radiation present to allow for direct comparison to manifest data.

The I-CBRNE system from IAT can also be deployed for the protection against the introduction of explosive materials in subway systems and other populated areas by providing a comprehensive detection, identification and tracking system for explosive materials before they enter the building.

The distributed I-CBRNE network allows commercial off the shelf or proprietary sensors to be deployed in a plug-and-play environment for a wide variety of applications. A modular expansion capability is provided to address small, medium and large-scale configurations. The system is also designed to easily integrate new sensor technologies as they emerge.

"The real power of the distributed sensor system from Innovative American Technology is the revolutionary spectral analysis software. This proprietary advanced pattern recognition system can learn the spectroscopic signature of radiation, chemical, biological and explosive materials for rapid recognition of trace levels," says Dr. John Caulfield, chief technology officer of IAT.

The RTIS is scheduled for continued field-testing and demonstrations at U.S. ports in the first quarter of 2006 and is offered for improved support of homeland defense, military and commercial applications. I-CBRNE chemical, biological and explosives capabilities are scheduled for release in 2006. According to the DHS Budget-In-Brief, the administration requested a total of $49.9 billion for homeland security across the entire federal government in GFY 2006.

Innovative American Technology Inc. (IAT) is a privately held company with offices in Boca Raton, Florida. IAT has acquired multiple technologies from the U.S. Department of Energy and has a mission to acquire, commercialize and market advanced technologies for support of national security and to commercialize technologies to address the important issues of our time. IAT has formed an impressive team for scientific discovery, engineering, manufacturing, distribution and international logistics.
