Sensor Film detects pressure from 2-43,200 psi.

Press Release Summary:

Consisting of thin, clear Mylar sheet, Pressurex® Film maps and measures pressure distribution and magnitude between mating, contacting, or impacting surfaces. When placed between impacting or mating surface, film instantaneously and permanently changes color, with color intensity directly proportional to pressure applied. Pressure magnitude can be determined by comparison of color variations to correlation chart.

Innovative Pressure Sensor Aids Process Improvement and Enhances Quality Assurance

Engineers Now Have Fast and Accurate Method for Mapping Contact Surface Pressure Distribution

Madison, NJ - May 31, 2006 - Sensor Products LLC presents Pressurex®, a thin sensor film that quickly and accurately maps and measures pressure distribution and magnitude between any mating, contacting or impacting surfaces. Pressurex® shows precisely how surfaces deform and engage under stress.

quickly and inexpensively reveals force distribution occurring in problem contact areas in gasket and O-ring seal assemblies. It improves quality in both design integrity and production of components and products with gasketed and flanged surfaces.

Able to detect pressure from 2 to 43,200 PSI (0.14 to 3,037 kg/cm2), Pressurex® is ideal for dozens of industrial applications and has proven successful in assessing surface contact inconsistencies in gaskets, clamps, bolted joints, heat sealing elements, lamination presses, nip rolls, welding heads, clutch and brake assemblies, tire treads, connectors and heat sinks.

The film is an easy to use nondestructive testing tool, and comes in the form of a large thin clear Mylar sheet, physically similar in appearance to a sheet of paper. When placed between impacting or mating surfaces, the film instantaneously and permanently changes color, with color intensity directly proportional to the specific pressure applied. Precise pressure magnitude (PSI or kg/cm2) can be determined by comparison of color variations to a color correlation chart (conceptually similar to interpreting Litmus paper). Further evaluation for greater detail and comparative analysis can be performed with the optional Topaq® optical analysis system also available from Sensor Products.
