Sensor & Test 2015 Premiere: Rohde & Schwarz Presents Its Comprehensive Oscilloscope Portfolio

16-bit vertical resolution with the RS RTO and RS RTE. Universal trigger and decoding options for Manchester, NRZ and 8b10b serial protocols. A spectrum analysis and spectrogram option for the RS RTM2000 that is unique in its class. A large selection of bandwidth models ranging from 200 MHz to 2 GHz for the R&S RTE oscilloscopes. This and other scope-of-the-art highlights for automotive and industrial applications will be on display at the Rohde & Schwarz trade fair booth in Nuremberg.

Munich, – At Sensor & Test 2015, in hall 11, booth 444, Rohde & Schwarz will be showcasing its steadily growing portfolio of oscilloscopes, including applications and accessories for various embedded applications. Products range from three R&S HMO entry-level oscilloscopes with bandwidths of 50 MHz to 500 MHz and the powerful midrange R&S RTM2000 and R&S RTE with up to 2 GHz bandwidth to the high-performance R&S RTO oscilloscopes with up to 4 GHz bandwidth.

16-bit vertical resolution for analyzing minute signal details The high definition mode increases the vertical resolution of the R&S RTO and R&S RTE digital oscilloscopes to up to 16 bits a 256 fold improvement over the 8 bit resolution available in standard mode. To achieve this higher resolution, the signal is lowpass-filtered directly after the A/D converter. This reduces the noise, while increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. The higher resolution leads to sharper waveforms, showing signal details that would otherwise be masked by noise. The high dynamic range is especially important for measurements on power electronics and for analyzing small sensor signals. The special feature of the Rohde & Schwarz solution is that it allows the bandwidth, and therefore the vertical resolution, to be flexibly adjusted based on the application.

Simultaneous time domain and spectrum analysis with the R&S RTM2000 The new spectrum analysis and spectrogram option makes the R&S RTM2000 the only oscilloscope in its class to allow spectrum analysis to be performed simultaneously alongside time domain, logic and serial protocol analysis. Interactions such as occur in electronic devices with RF components can be quickly analyzed with a single measurement. Featuring hardware-assisted implementation of this function for extremely fast analysis, operation oriented on that of spectrum analyzers and a waterfall function, the R&S RTM universal oscilloscope is ideal for EMI debugging applications when used with appropriate near-field probes.

Universal triggering and decoding for Manchester, NRZ and 8b10b For the first time, Rohde & Schwarz will be presenting the new R&S RTx-K50 trigger and decoding option for Manchester and NRZ coded serial protocols. The option now makes it possible to use the R&S RTO and R&S RTE oscilloscopes to debug various common serial protocols such as Profibus, Dali and MVB. Thanks to the flexible configuration of the telegram structure, the solution is also ideal for proprietary serial buses such as are commonly used in industrial, aerospace and defense applications. Users can define their own preamble, frame ID, data, CRC and other telegram fields.

New is also the R&S RTO-K52 decoding option, which allows the R&S RTO oscilloscope to analyze data from up to 6.25 Gbit/s 8b10b-based interfaces. These types of buses are used in a variety of applications such as the common 8b10b coded USB 3.0 and PCIe interfaces as well as the MIPI M-PHY bus used in smartphones and display interfaces such as HDMI and DisplayPort.

The numerous Rohde & Schwarz trigger and decoding options and compliance test options help developers verify, test and debug designs with various serial interfaces and test for compliance.

This is the first time that Rohde & Schwarz is attending Sensor & Test since it entered the oscilloscope market in 2010. The T&M expert's portfolio can be seen in hall 11, booth 444. A Rohde & Schwarz press representative will be present for trade journalists on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
