Self-Priming Pumps are suited for terminals and tank farms.

Press Release Summary:

Able to operate in either direction, pumps with suction lift capability can be mounted above liquid level in barges and tankers for loading/unloading or line stripping. For terminal operations, Internal Gear and Industrial Lobe pumps offer thrust control and adjustable rotor clearances. Gear pumps handle viscosities from 28-2,000,000 SSU with capacities up to 1,500 gpm. Lobe pumps, in bi-wing or multi-lobe designs, provide pressures to 400 psi and offer capacities to 1,000 gpm.

Original Press Release:

Self-Priming, High Capacity Pumps for Terminals and Tank Farms from Viking

Viking Pump offers high capacity pumps for terminals and tank farms. Self-priming, with suction lift capability, they can be mounted above the liquid level for unloading barges and tankers. Because they operate equally well in either direction, the same Viking pump may be used for both loading and unloading or line stripping, to eliminate the cost of a second pump. Terminal applications include petroleum products, vegetable oils, animal fats and oils, chemicals, asphalt, molasses, alcohols, fertilizers and many other bulk liquids.

Viking's pumping technologies for terminal operations include both Internal Gear and Industrial Lobe pumps, with thrust control and adjustable rotor clearances that compensate for wear and viscosity. The gear pumps handle viscosities from 28 to 2,000,000 SSU with capacities up to 1,500 gpm. The lobe pumps, in bi-wing or multi-lobe designs, provide low shear and pressures to 400 psi on medium to high viscosities, with capacities to 1,000 gpm. The relatively slow rotational speed of the Viking pumps contributes to long service life and minimal maintenance, compared to high speed vane, screw or centrifugal pumps.

Material options include iron, steel, stainless steel, Hastelloy and Alloy 20, with jacketing options for melting solids before start-up. To minimize downtime, these pumps accept a wide variety of component and cartridge seals from nearly all seal suppliers, ensuring the seal that is best for the job.

Viking Pump, a unit of IDEX Corporation, designs and manufactures rotary positive displacement pumps for use in every major market, in thousands of applications. Drawing on more than 90 years' experience and an extensive worldwide distributor network, Viking offers its customers comprehensive service and application expertise unmatched in the fluid handling industry.
