AutoJet Technologies Introduces Improved Spray Control in a Self-Contained System

Wheaton, IL, November 4, 2002 - AutoJet Technologies, a division of Spraying Systems Co., has introduced a self-contained spraying system that improves the efficiency and performance of automatic spray guns for the application of lubricants and coatings. The AutoJet® Modular Spray System consists of an electrical control panel and a pneumatic control panel. An optional pressure tank and cart are available to provide complete system mobility.

The Model 2250 AutoJet Spray Controller and patented SprayLogic(TM) software enable the Modular Spray System's unique control capability. SprayLogic software was developed specifically for spray applications and enables much more precise regulation of spraying variables than is possible through simple PLCs.

"Spraying Systems Co. launched AutoJet Technologies because we saw that our spray nozzle customers had a need to control their spraying operations more precisely," said James Bramsen, President and CEO of Spraying Systems Co. "Our engineers spend a lot of time in customers' plants, and they continually see problems like overspray of expensive coatings, misting and product rejects that could be easily eliminated through better spray control."

The Model 2250 AutoJet Spray Controller monitors and automatically adjusts spray variables including spray pattern, flow rate, drop size, liquid air pressure, atomizing air pressure and fan air pressure. It can also monitor external conditions that can critically affect a spraying operation such as temperature and humidity.

The AutoJet Modular Spray System is capable of controlling two independent channels of automatic spray guns, up to 28 guns. Users can select from eight different regulation modes including Closed Loop Flow, Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Batch Control. PWM, which produces a pulsed spray separated by delays occurring several times per second, significantly reduces airborne mists and overspray. The Batch Control mode enables manufacturers to quickly change spray parameter set-ups for multiple spray applications on a single line.

"Manufacturers are concerned with decreasing chemical usage, improving worker safety and improving product quality," said Dave Foley, Vice President of AutoJet Technologies. "Precision spray control can often help our customers meet these objectives, and our Modular Spray System provides them a cost-effective and reliable solution."
