PEM® Type SMPS(TM) Self-Clinching Nuts Mount Permanently Close to Edge of Thin Metal Sheets

DANBORO, PA, January 2, 2003 -- PEM® Type SMPS(TM) stainless steel self-clinching nuts from PEM® Fastening Systems offer an ideal solution for thin-sheet applications where space for attaching hardware is minimal and close-to-edge attachment would prove beneficial. Once they are permanently installed, these nuts can provide reliable and reusable threads with only one mating screw required to complete component attachment.

Compared with standard clinch nuts, these unique fasteners feature a lower profile (smaller diameter and height) and can be mounted up to 50% closer to the edge of a sheet, which enables them to be used wherever "real estate" for hardware on a sheet is limited.

Type SMPS self-clinching nuts can be installed in extremely thin metal sheets (.025"/0.63 mm) and will become a permanent part of an assembly, which eliminates any risk that the parts will loosen, fall out, or otherwise impact negatively on end-product integrity and performance.

The fasteners are made from 300 Series stainless steel and are available in unified and metric thread sizes #2-56 through #6-32 and M2.5 through M3.5. Their diameter (.220"/5.6mm) and height (.065"/1.4mm) contribute to a desired low profile.
