Seica Unveils the Very Latest and Best in Its World-Class Range of Flying Probe Test Solutions on Booth 4F11

Designed to meet industry demands for high fault coverage, speed, ease of use, flexibility and cost-effectiveness, Seica's AERIAL Flying Probe test system can be operated by specialist and non-specialist test personnel alike as part of a highly cost-effective test strategy.

Based on Seica's proprietary VIVA Integrated Platform (VIP(TM)) core hardware and software, AERIAL reduces the investment and time needed for board development, while providing maximum test flexibility. Ideal for testing prototypes, samples and small-to-medium production runs, the system uses four completely independent mobile test probes, two on each side of the test board. These enable simultaneous, accurate double-sided testing, while an innovative clamping system maximises efficiencies by eliminating vibration during test.

Seica's proprietary OTPN (One Touch Per Net) technique quickly characterizes nets and identifies faults on subsequent boards, executing additional tests at the same time. This simplifies and speeds up test program generation and maximizes fault coverage and throughput.

Data collection and statistics functions come as standard, and AERIAL's capabilities can be further expanded with optional in-circuit test and visual inspection software modules. Through the VIP environment, the system is also fully compatible with Seica's PILOT Flying Probe, and its STRATEGY In-circuit and VALID Functional testers, making AERIAL even more versatile.

All of this is packed into a compact yet easy-to-load system that can accommodate even large sized boards.

The latest addition to Seica's growing portfolio, the Firefly concentrates all the power and control of laser technology into the automated selective soldering process. Based on Seica's VIP(TM) architecture, Firefly simplifies the generation, verification and operation of any soldering program, while its flexibility and performance can be further optimized through additional software tools. Not least, thermal control, so essential to the soldering process, is guaranteed by an integrated temperature control system that provides continuous feedback during the soldering process and displays thermal profiles clearly in real time.

Equipped with a SMEMA board conveyor system, Firefly can also be integrated easily into any production line.

Seica's PILOT Flying Probe system integrates a complete set of test tools and techniques that enable it to perform the entire range of in-circuit,functional tests and even Boundary scan of any type of electronic board without having to build a test fixtures or mechanical adapters. The air bearing technology used in the Pilot allows the four mobile probes to "fly" on cushions of air over granite guides, practically eliminating friction between the moving mechanical parts.

The CCD camera is used to do optical inspection for testing component presence/absence and orientation. The Pilot software creates a "virtual" bed of nail during test program generation, making it easy to transfer some test program to other systems in the S40 Series and its open modular architecture allows the direct connection of the system to a bed of nails fixture.

Strategy VL - the new concept in functional test
The STRATEGY VL is another test solution that will be showcased in the Seica booth. The Strategy line of test systems are suitable for all types of in-circuit and functional test applications, since they are configurable with the internal and external resources that best fit the customer needs. The open hardware and software architecture allows easy integration of external instruments (such as scopes, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators). In this case, the system has been configured to perform the functional test of automotive products and modules, with the capability of executing low value analog measurements, power analog, low frequency and high frequency digital measurements, using the standard system resources as well as some new Seica hardware modules (programmable loads, matrix, power loads) which have been designed to address the specific functional test requirements of all of the various automotive products installed inside a car.
